a rare saturday post, sunday variation

so i don't promise to always do weekend posts because i hardly ever get dressed, let alone dressed up! but we had a great party at my mom's house.  One thing i am hoping to learn is to mix colors and patterns together in this new fashionably sensible way.  I mean, i grew up in a time when everything was matchy matchy.... 

I have this great leopard skirt.  So, I put brown striped knee high socks and my chocolate brown boots. 

then i layered a white oldy navy shirt, a lane bryant pink lace tank top and my newest thrift store find--ralph lauren silk cashmere sweater.  then i added a thrift store scarf, pinks and other colors.

 so sunday i changed it up a bit and wore a dark turquoise blue downeast shirt, black $1 sweater a thrift store find, and my scarf that was a gift from my friend.   that is my cat--harry bear--isn't he adorable? 

i just realized i wore black and brown together, I hardly ever do that

outfit 17--analogous gray and blue

outfit 16--brown silk cashmere sweater

 here is me in front of my tiny one window room and my largest bulletin board.  luckily i have yellow chairs.

this is my steal of the deal sweater: ralph lauren cashmere/silk sweater for $7 at savers.  i about peed my pants with that deal.  my dress is dillard's bechamel (clearance for about $10), knee high socks and boots from Sam's club $10 and $40

oh so cute, comfy and warm!

they have 51 colors, fishnets, and tie dye.  ohhhhh, makes a girl who loves color purrr....continue to the scarf rack for more color purring....

i found this quilt rack at a consignment shop, painted it turquoise and hung it on the wall to hold my fabric.  purrrrr, as buffy would say:)

outfit 15--orange sunshine

a lady says to me in sam's club "i wish it were always as sunny as you are!"  and my response, that is exactly why i wear this outfit--when i am sick of the winter gloom!  today was sunny but it reached about 11 degrees high. for us utahns, that is COLD! my sister in MN is probably saying--WHINER, so i shall now proceed with the outfit description.

tights--old navy a long time ago--sad day because they got two runs in them:( anybody know where i can get more obnoxious and inappropriate colors for people my size and age?  thanks

outfit 14--long $1 wool vest

 did you read that right? you sure did! one cute little dollar for this fabulous worthington's (jcpenney) wool coat--washable!  i hear the sesame street count in the background..one cute little dollar, ahh ahhha ahhha hha..or however you would spell his laugh:)

all other items previously owned:  lane bryant pants, down east shirt, dansko mary janes and black fluffy socks with one handmade wool flower by moi and that is the outfit!

outfit 13--the scarf that started it all

i think that this outfit is more about the scarf and the earrings.  The earrings i made with my friend jessica and they are long and lovely.  the scarf is a story:  about the time i started teaching, 8 or 9 years ago, i found this scarf in a grocery store parking lot.  it is 100% silk.  i was enamored--look for my special scarf post later this week. 

the shirt is $1 monday night savers find, gloria vanderbilt brand (is that wal-mart? anyway, the top detail fits a little loose and weird, so i am glad i am wearing a scarf and that i paid only $1.)
